Blocking USB stick on a computer

 Since replacing Floppy Disk as a place to exchange media files offline, the USB stick automatically acts as a medium for spreading viruses are also the most effective at this time.

 For certain purposes such as diwarnet or offices that have been using a LAN as a data transfer medium, often using a USB flash drive on multiple computers need to be closed at all, so the spread of the virus through the medium of a USB Mass Storage Devices can be minimized. In this article I will share information on how to block the use of USB flash drive in the computer in total so it can not be used at all. Here are some methods that we can do.

1. Disable / block USB stick or USB Storage Device on the computer by using the Windows registry.

1.   Log in to the computer with Administrator Account
2.  Go to the Registry Editor by clicking Start - Run type: regedit
3.  Look for Key USBSTOR located at: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \      CurrentControlSet \ Services \ USBSTOR
4.  Double click on the Start value that is in the right pane, and change the value from 3 to 4.

 

Up here we've been able to disable the use of USB Mass Storage Device.  

   5.    For added security so Key can not be modified arbitrarily, did setting the permissions on the    key USBSTOR for all accounts on the computer unless the Administrator account to "Deny", how:

• Right click on the Key USBSTOR
• Permission clicks, so look for Permission window USBSTOR
• then for each Permission Group or user names, place a check in the Deny

• click Apply and OK
  
  Close the Registry Editor and restart the computer.
